About the role
As the Community Support Worker your manager will be our Independent Living Team Leader. Depending on the post you will work either 30, 16 or 15 hours a week this also includes bank holiday working and participation in an out of hours standby rota. You will be working within the Independent Living Schemes in the Vico Homes operating area and with other customers across the Wakefield District.
As the Community Support Worker you will be responsible for working within our community-based teams to provide and monitor housing related support services to tenants within Independent Living Schemes, and other customers across the Wakefield District, who may have various support needs. Your main goal being to promote and maintain the individual’s independence in their own home.

- Deliver the ILS improvement programme and improve customer communication and engagement within our ILS Portfolio
- Deliver VFM through joint initiatives, actively engaging with residents and partners measurable social benefits and support our vision to provide better futures and vibrant communities
- Deliver digital development within ILS
What you’ll do
- Be part of the Connecting Care partnership, representing housing, with partners in Social Care and Health and represent Vico Homes by attending other local agency forums and meetings.
- Make sure that independent living schemes are operating in line with all Vico Homes and independent living policies and procedures, including safeguarding and emergency response procedures.
- Liaise with appropriate colleagues at area management offices, service access points, OneCALL, Care Link and other sections regarding landlord responsibilities relating to tenancy management, estate management and antisocial behaviour and repairs, making sure that issues are dealt with and resolved effectively by the appropriate sections within Vico Homes.
- Participate in the marketing and the positive promotion of Vico Homes and the independent living service both internally and privately in the Home Visiting Service. Provide appropriate and accurate information to direct enquiries.
- Be required to cover extra care schemes, which may entail sleeping-in duties in an emergency situation.
What we’re looking for
- Experience of working with older and vulnerable people, an understanding of their needs and knowledge of the services available to them.
- Excellent customer care skills.
- A qualification at Level 1 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework in Maths and English.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle at all times.
