When we do improvement works we know it’s about more than just the end result, it’s about how the work feels while it’s happening too!
That’s why we focus on keeping you involved from the very beginning. Before anything starts, we’ll always share what’s planned, talk you through what to expect and make sure you’ve got the chance to ask questions or raise any concerns.
It’s important to us that you feel informed and reassured right from day one. But it doesn’t stop there.
As work gets underway, we keep those conversations going. We’ll check in, listen to your feedback and, wherever we can, use what you tell us to shape what happens next.
A recent project in Ossett gave us a really good example of how that can work.
At the start, residents of Towngate came along to one of our engagement events to find out more about the planned improvements and speak directly with the teams delivering them. Over time, those conversations shifted.
Customers weren’t just asking questions anymore, they were sharing ideas about how their space could be improved. One thing we kept hearing was that they wanted to see more colour in their shared green spaces and have the chance to get involved themselves, so we made that happen.
We worked with our grounds maintenance partners to organise a planting day, giving customers the chance to come together and help transform their green spaces. Even with the weather against them, 36 residents came along to take part.
Towngate resident Irene said:
“I’ve lived here for over 40 years and it’s amazing to see the community coming together like this. I’d like to thank Vico for all the hard work that has gone into these events and making sure things have gone smoothly. We’re only a small community but it‘s been great for us all to be able to get involved and for us to be brought together like this. I’m sure once the flowers are in bloom we’ll all be able to look out our windows and think we’re proud that this is ours and we made it happen.”
We also work closely with our contractors to make sure they’re part of those conversations too, so you’re not just hearing from us, you’re able to speak directly to the people doing the work. For us, it all comes back to making sure you feel involved and confident in what’s happening around you.
Project Officer Pervez Khaliq said: “I feel it’s really important for us to give you every chance to get involved throughout projects like this. These events have been a great opportunity for us to meet you, listen to any concerns you may have and bring your community together.
“Our Tenant Engagement Days continue to get better each time as we learn and develop. If we’re working in your area and you get an invite, we’d love for you to come along, have a natter and a cuppa.
“The work we do will always matter, but so does your experience along the way.”
