Northern Housing association Vico Homes has acquired almost 400 homes from Sage Homes, England’s largest provider of newly built affordable housing for the last four years.
This is the first major acquisition since the housing association announced plans to invest over £303 million in new homes, building on its 32,500 home portfolio and expanding its footprint.
Vico Homes, formerly known as WDH, rebranded in April 2025 and launched an ambitious strategy to provide over 1,500 new homes over the next three years, invest £178million in improving existing homes and provide great experiences for customers. This is the association’s biggest investment and reinvestment budget in its 20 year history.
These 390 tenanted homes are acquired in addition to this new homes target, further boosting Vico Homes’ growth aspirations.
Martyn Shaw, Chief Executive of Vico Homes, said: "This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Vico Homes and is a clear signal of our ambition to grow. We want to grow our impact, reach new communities and provide more people with safe, high-quality, and affordable homes. Working with partners like Sage Homes supports us to do that and we hope this is the first of similar deals to come.”
Mark Sater, CEO, Sage Homes said: "We are delighted to transfer these homes to Vico Homes, a high-quality localised provider which shares our values and will continue to deliver excellent customer service to residents.”
