About the role
As the Assistant Development Project Manager your manager will be our Development Manager – Delivery. You will work 37 hours a week, working flexibly in the Vico Homes operating area based at our Head Office in Castleford.
As the Assistant Development Project Manager you will be responsible for supporting our Development Project Managers in the management of multiple new build projects as we strive to deliver 10,000 new homes over the next 10 years.
It is an exciting time to be joining us and here are some of the initiatives that you will be involved in:
- Working across a range of new build project types, including land-led schemes, package deals and acquisitions.
- Leading on your own portfolio of projects, comprising of some of our smaller schemes, to help you build up your project management skills and experience.
- Supporting the Development Manager with delivery across a range of service improvement initiatives, to enhance efficiencies, consistencies and the customer offer.
What you’ll do
- Lead and manage small-scale new build projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery to time, budget and quality standards, including compliance with external funding requirements.
- Step up as Client representative and provide cover for Development Project Managers, taking the lead when needed.
- Shape the future of our developments by contributing to design, specifications, planning applications, procurement, and stakeholder engagement.
- Keep projects on track by monitoring budgets, risks, and milestones, while maintaining clear communication and accurate reporting.
- Drive innovation and improvement by staying up to date with sector changes and championing service development initiatives.
What we’re looking for
- A qualification at Level 4 (or equivalent), with project management accreditation highly desirable.
- Proven experience in project management, with a solid grasp of budget and contract management.
- A flexible, adaptable approach, able to respond effectively to evolving service needs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
This role could be a great fit if you:
- Have completed formal project management training at a high level and are eager to apply your learning in practice.
- Bring project management experience from another discipline and want to transition into public sector housing development.
- Already work within a housing development team and are ready to step up into a direct project management role.
