We are looking for a Scheme Manager to join our Independent Living Team, supporting one of our Extra Care Independent Living Schemes—New Priory, Featherstone. This is one of 33 schemes across the Wakefield District that help people live independently and safely, with two of these schemes offering enhanced support as part of our Extra Care model.

What you’ll do:

As Scheme Manager, you will be at the heart of the scheme ensuring residents not only receive the housing-related support they need but also feel part of a vibrant, welcoming community. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting residents with housing-related matters to maintain their independence
  • Monitoring residents’ well-being and coordinating with health, social care, and community services as needed
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the scheme, including health and safety, tenancy support, and general housing management
  • Promoting and arranging social activities and events to encourage community engagement and reduce isolation

When and where you'll work

We’re looking for someone who is caring, organised, and dedicated to helping people. You will bring:

  • experience of working with older or vulnerable people, with a good understanding of their needs and the services available;
  • strong customer care skills, ideally supported by training in housing, health or social care (e.g. First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene Certificate);
  • 5 qualifications at Level 1 of the Qualifications and Credit Framework such as GCSE’s grades D-G/1-3 or Certificate or Diploma at Level 1 or equivalent; and
  • a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle at all times.

Please note that the role also requires applicants to participate in the emergency response service to tenants in extra care schemes by providing sleeping in duties.  This includes working outside of normal office hours, weekends, Christmas and New Year
