About the role
As the Compliance Officer – Building Safety your manager will be our Business, Building and Safety Manager. You will work 37 hours a week on a fixed term basis for up to 12 months, working flexibly in the Vico Homes operating area based from our Head Office in Castleford.
As the Compliance Officer – Building Safety you will be responsible for supporting the Building Safety and Compliance team in delivering Building Safety requirements across the Vico Homes portfolio providing assurance to senior management and the board.

- Delivering building safety requirements across all Vico Homes’ assets
- Regulatory requirements around the Building Safety Act and Property Compliance Big 6
What you’ll do
- Building safety assurance and compliance management
Lead and maintain up-to-date building safety records and data systems (Salesforce, Risk Hub, IBS, Documotive), monitor compliance processes, identify non‑compliance or improvement opportunities, and provide robust evidence and assurance to the Board and internal stakeholders that statutory obligations are met - Inspections, audits and incident management
Carry out regular building inspections, audits and assessments; investigate building safety incidents and mandatory occurrences; translate findings into actions and follow up to ensure remedial work is completed to required standards - Contractor procurement and ongoing contract management
Support SKEB reviews, procurement specifications and tender evaluations; participate in contractor selection; run regular contractor meetings, audits and performance monitoring and challenge poor performance to ensure contractor works meet contractual and regulatory standards - New build compliance
Work with the new build and development team to review plans, raise concerns, and ensure all works meet accredited standards and the golden thread requirements for Vico Homes, including contributing to the development of systems and processes that embed safety and compliance - Stakeholder engagement and reporting
Represent Vico Homes at resident engagement events and TARA meetings; respond to customer enquiries and complaints; liaise with regulators and enforcing bodies; produce KPIs, management information and reports for boards and committees to communicate performance and risk
What we’re looking for
- A Qualification at Level 4 of the Qualification and Credit Framework such as a HNC in in a building related discipline and an appropriate Health and Safety Management Course
- Experience in managing Building Safety within a social housing setting
- Expansive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and secondary legislation
- A team player who is happy to work as part of a wider team and department
