About the role
We’re looking for a talented Public Affairs Officer to join our Brand and Communications team. This is a unique opportunity to combine political insight with creative communications skills — helping us shape the housing debate, influence decision-makers and tell our story with impact.
Reporting to the Head of Brand and Communications, you’ll work across the organisation to deliver a joined-up approach to public affairs and communications. From writing compelling briefings and responses to turning complex policy into engaging content, you’ll make sure our messages resonate with the people who matter most, supporting our growth ambitions and influencing change.
What you’ll do
- Monitoring the political and policy landscape to identify risks and opportunities.
- Developing briefings, consultation responses, position papers and speeches for senior leaders.
- Translating complex housing issues into clear, accessible communications for different audiences.
- Working with the wider comms team to align public affairs with media, digital and stakeholder engagement activity.
- Building strong relationships with MPs, councillors, advisers and sector partners.
- Supporting colleagues and leaders to communicate confidently and persuasively.
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring a solid understanding of politics, policymaking, and parliamentary processes – ideally with experience in housing, regeneration, or social policy (though not essential). Equally important is your ability to communicate with clarity and creativity, ensuring our messages cut through in a crowded landscape.
We’re particularly interested in people who are:
- Politically aware, with strong networking and influencing skills.
- Excellent writers and communicators, able to adapt tone and style for different audiences.
- Skilled at joining the dots between public affairs and wider brand/communications activity.
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable managing a busy, fast-moving workload.
- Passionate about using public affairs and communications to deliver positive change for communities.
If you’re ready to use your public affairs and communication skills to help shape the future of housing, we’d love to hear from you.
